Incubation

Paper residency - Paper Lab & Campidarte

We are thrilled to announce that the Paper Lab & Campidarte, will be hosting a summer residency  in Sardinia.

As part of the Self-Sufficient Topography program.

We invite paper oriented artists and makers with inspiration to work with paper as a medium and as a concept for an incubation process at Campidarte's center in Sardinia.

Campidarte was used for years as an incubation farm for young chicks and became an art and culture center with a theme of connection to earth, environment and sustainability.

A vast and green area maintained with attention and listening where local and international artists  and visitors pass.

In the farm we have an art Gallery and Cultural Center, a huge landscape full of wall paintings, installation and sculptures, temporary workshops of guest artists, a local culinary center and almost 20 acres of green and open space waiting just for you.

The island of Sardinia.

Sardinia is a modest and isolated place, and its people are known to be self-sufficient in making maximum use of resources available to them on this island.

They are in constant dialogue with the land and the weather, which changes according to the seasons.

They are attentive to the earth and are sensitive to its environments, with resourcefulness and dignity.

In this residency program, we will rely on manual labour with site specific resources in our creation process;  we will delve deeply into the self and the space.

Through an encounter with a primordial and humble place, which may seem poor in means but rich in philosophy and knowledge of creation, we will connect to our personal creation.

The residency program:

Paper comes from the earth and returns to the earth in various and wonderful ways.

A process of birth, life and death that repeats itself over and over again.

Its main component is cellulose, that delicate cell membrane that is common to everything that grew, grows and will grow on our globe and always returns to the sublime source, the earth.

Just like an egg shell, We leave our presence in traces in every moment and in every act in the momentary topography of the happening.

We invite you to take part and share her inspiration and ideas with us.

Our platform is open to your research and process and offers plenty of possibilities for expression and formulation. Our concept seeks to touch as closely as possible the works that over time will return to the earth under the effects of the environment and the weather and leave their remains in it.

Our residency program is self-financed, we can help you with guidance and manpower, we have many tools and materials at our disposal and a lot of space for your site specific work, video art, installations or sculptures.

It is possible to create installations and works for the gallery space, but we will prefer projects for our green space also so that we can document the residency processes on the gallery walls.

We can help with transportation and cheaper accommodation options as currently all of our accommodation options are taken by other artists.

The stay and hence also the cost of each participant is determined according to the artist's stay time.

You are welcome to contact us for offers or an introductory conversation.

Application deadline May 15, 2023.

The program is led by Guy Lougashi .
